Four Ways to Stay Flu-Free

Yep, it’s that time of year…the dreaded flu season. As a parent, what steps are you taking to keep your kiddos (and yourself) healthy and flu-free?

We all know that the flu is miserable and brings along a whole host of symptoms: fever, chills, aches, runny nose, sore throat and even vomit and diarrhea. Avoid the awful symptoms and start taking some simple measures to keep the flu away all season.

  • Get the flu shot or flu mist. We offer both, and The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that some form of the vaccination be administered to children annually once they reach six months of age.
  • Wash hands frequently. We can’t stress this enough. Washing hands before eating, after restroom use, after play and following a sneeze or cough is critical. Learn more about this powerful antidote here.
  • Don’t cover your nose/mouth with your hand when sneezing or coughing! This is a common mistake, and can be easily avoided by encouraging the use of a tissue or a sleeve when necessary.
  • Clean home is a happy (healthy) home. Take extra measures to disinfect toys, common play areas, bathrooms and kitchens.
